Teambuilding is the most popular training program carried out by Malaysian companies utilizing the HRDC funds that they have.
Why is it so popular?
- The staff loves it; they have fun and it’s not too taxing or having to sit through ‘boring’ training programs.
- There are lots of teambuilding training providers with enter-trainers around to do that who would play “games” and it is easy to run.
- It’s good to have an end-of-year event to ‘celebrate.’
- Or can be used at the beginning of the year to welcome the New year. Charge them up for the coming year!
- Maybe the money is there and this is one way to utilize the money and get the staff together; training results are not the main objective.
So do your team-building training programs build teams? And does the team go back and have better teamwork? And if so, how long does it last? Or does it matter? Of course, some of these programs can deliver the results as promised. The question is, how do we do that?
Improving team building involves making it more personalized for the team, ensuring it’s relevant to their work, involving everyone, supporting continuous learning, and aligning with the company’s values. Addressing these areas can significantly enhance the impact of team-building. Since 1997, Quest has helped clients make their training dollars for team building better spent.
